Daredevil Fans Launch A Campaign To Bring Back The Series

A few days after the third season of Daredevil premiered on Netflix back in November of last year, it was suddenly cancelled like some of the other Marvel properties like Luke Cage and Iron Fist. This news had left all in shock including cast, crew and fans. With the series leaving us with a great cliffhanger, would we ever get to see what they had in mind for a fourth season?

Probably not, but there are those who are going to do whatever they can to try and bring back the series by launching a #SaveDaredevil campaign. According to their homepage they are claiming that, “Thousands of fans are uniting to take a stand against Daredevil’s untimely and undeserved cancellation. Will you join us in this fight?”

The site features a petition via change.org, which at the time I am writing this has over 100,000 signatures. It also features contact information for Marvel Entertainment, Netflix and even ways to contact Hulu in case they can maybe also pick up the series on their streaming service. Not a good writer? not a problem, the site has sample letters that you can send out as well as key points that their letters should include, for example “include positive commentary about Season 3, remind them S3 left many stories and avenues open to explore and emphasize that we want the same cast, crew, writers and showrunner.” Disney contact information will be added soon.

Not enough? The site also has a sub-campaign called #OperationNapkins, which encourages fans to take napkins and write “Nelson, Murdock & Page” on them and send them to Marvel headquarters in New York City. This is a reference to the final episode of season 3 of Daredevil. The site stresses that you keep any additional messages positive and encouraging. Last but not least there are graphics that you can use to share on your personal social media.

There is no doubt that there is a lot of passionate fans behind this campaign. So much so that it has got the attention of one of the stars of Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio who plays the series antagonist Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. A few days ago he tweeted his support for the campaign saying “when I was a boy..”, joking that’s not what he said at all, you can check out his tweet below.

How Netflix, Marvel/Disney will respond to the campaign is unknown. Probably just acknowledge the group and move along. Or maybe go full on Bird Box and pretend it’s not there. One thing is for sure, Daredevil fans are not ready to give up without a fight.
