Daredevil Season 3 Featurette Teases The Return Of Kingpin

A few years back, the first season of Daredevil was released amid a real villain drought in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios had tried their hands at many a villain, but apart from Loki, really haven’t been able to capture any threat worth keeping around for very long. It’s around this time that they gained a reputation for giving us crap villains, and it’s in this ecosystem that the first season of Marvel/Netflix TV hit.

While it wasn’t a Marvel Studios production, it did technically take place within the MCU, and very quickly, its lead villain of Wilson Fisk quickly rose up as one of the most compelling baddies to grace it yet. Not only was he imposing and terrifying, but he was sympathetic and even admirable to some extent, setting a high bar in these TV series going forward.

Daredevil Season 2 had a high bar to live up to, and while Fisk’s return was an amazing surprise, the fact that he didn’t contribute to the story in a major way was disappointing (the Hand sucks). Now, in Season 3, Fisk is finally returning in full-force, ready to take down Matt Murdock, no matter what. In the new featurette from Netflix, it really plays up how amazing of a villain he is and how dangerous he is to Daredevil.

“[Season 3] paves the way to Kingpin taking the city back over again,” actor Vincent D’Onofrio says in the video.

Plus, with Matt Murdock now donning his old vigilante outfit, it looks like Daredevil Season 3 will truly bring things back to basics.
