Even with Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home dominating most of the headlines (rightfully so) there is another film coming down the pipeline that some are still interested in, while others are torn about. Coming out prior to Far From Home is the next installment in the X-Men franchise which hits in the form of Dark Phoenix on June 7. Sophie Turner, who returns as Jean Grey, was recently on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel in which they showed a clip for the upcoming film, which can be seen above (skip to 7:25 to start the clip portion).
I know many people are skeptical of the film, seeing as X-Men: Apocalypse didn’t turn out how the majority hoped it would, and the talk of numerous edits to the film, but I am actually looking forward to it. I really enjoyed X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past and I really want to see a Dark Phoenix story played out well on film (I don’t think X-Men: The Last Stand did that for anyone…). With the Dark Phoenix comic saga being one of the most widely known story arcs in the franchise, it deserves a strong adaption on film, but are the standards too high to meet?
