A family dynamic is taken to the next level in Daughter.

In this psychological thriller, a family kidnaps a young woman intending to use Stockholm syndrome to brainwash her to be a part of the family.

The film stars Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, Alita: Battle Angel), Elyse Dinh (Spider-Man 2, Watchmen), Vivien Ngô (Queen Sugar, NCIS: New Orleans), and Ian Alexander (The OA, Star Trek: Discovery). Corey Deshon (The Night Agent, A Million Little Things) directed and wrote the movie.

Here is the official synopsis:

A young woman is kidnapped and inducted into a bizarre family as their new surrogate daughter. As she navigates through this twisted dynamic, awful secrets about the past are revealed, leading to even darker implications about the future.

No doubt, Daughter has more twists and turns with its unveiled secrets about this dark family. The trailer shows a bit of torture to break down the victim mentally and that the family is quite eccentric. However, the gas masks throw things off a bit. I guess we’ll have to watch the movie to figure out what is going on.

Dark Star Pictures releases Daughter in select theaters, digitally, and On Demand on Friday, February 10. The DVD release date is on May 9.
