Dave Bautista Attached To Star In STXFilms’ Killer’s Game

Dave Bautista is has done a great job at making the jump from in ring WWE action to the big screen. This past weekend, he had his last match at Wrestlemania 35 against Triple H. Soon after his loss he announced his retirement from wrestling. In a couple of weeks we will see him reprise his role as Drax in the highly anticipated Marvel Studio’s film Avengers: Endgame and it looks like he will probably keep playing the character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, especially now that James Gunn is back in the picture.

But that is not the only film in Bautista’s future. Collider is reporting that he is attached to star in the action-thriller Killer’s Game for STXfilms. This film is based on the book titled, The Killer’s Game by Jay Bonansinga. It follows a veteran hitman named Joe Flood that receives the news from his doctor that he only has a few months to live. This news compels him to put out an open contract on his own life. Fortunately and unfortunately he finds out that the lab has made a mistake and there is actually nothing wrong with him. This forces him to have to take on an army of assassins that is out to kill him.

The film is being directed by DJ Caruso and will be produced by Endurance Media’s Steve Richards with Andrew Lazar of Mad Chance. Since the publication of the book in 1997, this project has been in development one way or another with numerous stars attached to it like Michael Keaton, Wesley Snipes and Jason Statham. We’ll see if this time around it makes it all to way to the big screen.

This project is probably the one that STX’s Adam Fogelson was talking about last week at Cinemacon. There during the debut trailer for My Spy, he mentioned that the company was going to be re-teaming with Bautista. In addition to the three films mentioned above, he will also be starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani in the action-comedy Stuber this July.
