Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite franchise within a franchise. Most of the time I think of them as another badass space crew as opposed to Marvel superheroes. Either way, they’re some of the more fun Marvel films and a worthy installment into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After the hiccup with Director James Gunn being fired and rehired for a third Guardians film, it’s now on the way, but actor and former pro-wrestler, Dave Bautista, who plays the muscle of the Guardians, Drax the Destroyer, recently revealed that James Gunn had plans for a spin-off film featuring Drax and Mantis during an interview with Collider. You can check out what he had to say below.
“What I would like to do is honestly, and this is not my idea, I’m stealing this idea, but James Gunn had the idea to do a Drax/Mantis movie. And that’s what I would be up for because there’s just too much fun there.”

James Gunn himself also chimed in via his Twitter account, verifying the spin-off idea.

I think this would be great, especially if keeping the standard tone of the Guardians films and perhaps even throwing in a little bit og the Ragnarok vibe, it could be unusual, but a fantastic addition to the MCU. Drax’s sense of humor and literal nature with Mantis’ naivety would be a kickass combo. The only problem is, as many of you know, Mantis is sort of, horrifying to look at.
