David Fincher Star Wars Sequel Pitch Was Also Rejected | Barside Buzz

Some Star Wars Barside Buzz says that filmmaker David Fincher was another who had a pitch for a sequel movie rejected by the studio. There’s also a little more on the more official story of the rejected Hunt for Ben Solo movie we covered in the related section below. The information comes from The InSneider.com, aka Jeff Sneider who has been consistently accurate with Star Wars scoops.

According to Jeff Sneider, David Fincher pitched a Star Wars sequel set post-TROS. All we know about that film was it starred a pre-existing character. Sneider says the film never got off the ground. Now, perhaps that wasn’t the studio, but the implication is that Lucasfilm or parent company Disney rejected it.

Sneider also had some words for that recent story that a Ben Solo comeback movie was in development for two years with Adam Driver and Steven Soderbergh. More on that in the link below.

However, Sneider says sources have told him that Bob Iger and Alan Bergman were right to reject the film, because it does not fit with the existing post-ROTS plans the studio has. However, from what Adam Driver himself said, the studio, aka Lucasfilm were in favour of his film, it was Disney execs Iger and Bergman who said no. That doesn’t really match with not fitting existing plans, does it. Especially not if the film was in development for two years as Driver says.

Interesting, but like I said yesterday, I have no issue with the studio rejecting ideas they don’t like. I’m also sceptical that you can bring back another character from the dead and get away with it. What I will say though, is that Star Wars films from David Fincher and Steven Soderbergh seem more exciting to me than a trilogy by Simon Kinberg. I doubt you need me to explain why that is.

What do you think of this Barside Buzz that David Fincher also had a Star Wars sequel film rejected? What will be the next Star Wars film to shoot after Starfighter is finished production? Thoughts below.
