Big news last night for DC Comics fans everywhere! Bit by bit we have been uncovering information about the upcoming DC Universe digital subscription service. Everything from what features the apps will contain, what classic films and television shows will be featured as well as what original shows are on the horizon. Pre-orders for the service had even began to be offered at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. But we still did not have a launch date until last night.
During the new daily news show called DC Daily hosted by DC Comics fan Kevin Smith, it was revealed that the service will officially launch on September 15th, which is also the day that DC comic book fans will be celebrating “Batman Day” at comic book stores everywhere.
During the event Smith also unveiled the inaugural talent that will be working on the daily news show. This included names such as John Barrowman, Samm Levine and Harley Quinn Smith, Sam Humphries, Hector Navarro, Clarke Wolfe, Brian Tong, Markeia McCarty and John Kourounis.
The other big announcement that was made was the debut date for the DC Universe original live action series Titans. It will first be shown at New York Comic-Con on October 3rd and then make it’s way on the service on October 12th. The series will be debuting a new episode once a week.
There are a few segments where the voice of Batman himself, Kevin Conroy, tries out the service by watching one of his favorite Batman: The Animated Series episodes. Also superstar artist for DC Comics Greg Capullo also tries out the service specifically the new comic book reader.
