DC Releases The First Look Of Krypto On DC Universe’s Titans

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD OF THE FIRST SEASON OF DC UNIVERSE’S TITANS SERIES

With the DC Universe’s Titan’s series wrapping up it’s first season a little over a week ago, there has been a lot of talk about the ending and the post credit scene that saw the debut of a couple of classic Superman characters. The big revelation was of course, Superboy who seemed to have somehow escaped. But then we see the character walk over and rip open a cage that revealed a dog with glowing red eyes, no doubt being Krypto.

Krypto has been around for a very long time in the DC Universe, making his first appearance in comics in March, 1955 in DC Comics’ Adventure Comics #210. He was originally the the family dog for Jor-El on Krypton, but he was used for a test flight for the ship that would eventually carry Kal-El to Earth. Sadly his ship was blown off course and didn’t make it to Earth until years later.

Being that Conner Kent was a clone of both Superman and Lex Luthor that was created during the Reign of the Supermen story arc in the 90’s, he always had a lot of trouble with his identity. In order to help Conner out, Superman gives him Krypto in order to show him responsibility and how to care for something.

Recently during Rebirth we have seen Krypto as the family dog of Lois, Clark and Jon Kent. It is in DC Comics’ Superman #3 by Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason, Jorge Jimenez and Alejandro Sanchez that we see how protective and loyal Krypto is of his family. When the Eradicator attempts to consume Jon, Krypto throws himself in between the two and is consumed by the Eradicator saving the young boy.

It’s safe to presume that Conner’s origin will keep him a clone on Titans, but it will be interesting to see how they handle Krypto’s backstory, especially since it has been established that the Justice League members exist in this universe. How did Cadmus get the dog? Does Superman even know about his existence or was he also a creation? With the first season barely ending a week ago we are going to have to wait a while until we can answer those questions.

What do you think of the addition of Krypto? Let us know in the comment section below!

DC Universe’s Titans first season can be streamed on their streaming service.
