A few days ago so much was made about the current status of the live-action Swamp Thing as well as it’s home the DC Universe streaming service. True, the series has been cut down from thirteen episodes to ten, but that, by all means, does not mean that the show will not go on as proven by the recent marketing for the series including a teaser trailer as well as an awesome Earth Day promo that showed off the creature known as Swamp Thing. Today DC Universe treated us with a full-length trailer for Swamp Thing, which you can check out above!
Overall I thought it was a very well done trailer. They wanted to make sure that you knew that James Wan was working on the series as an executive producer. With that out of the way they established that this is going to be a very dark series with a lot of horror, which would be very different than any series we have seen offered by DC and Warner Entertainment. Throughout the trailer we see quick snaps of characters and a re-animated corpse and what seems to be the first time that the Swamp Thing creature meets Crystal Reed’s Abby Arcane.
Swamp Thing will follow Arcane’s character as she investigates what seems to be a swamp born virus in a small town in Louisiana. Andy Bean will play Alec Holland, a biologist who ends up being transformed into Swamp Thing, who will be played by former Jason Voorhees actor Derek Mears. The series will take a lot of inspiration from the work of Alan Moore and artist Stephen R. Bissette, Rich Veitch and John Totleben in the ’80s. Swamp Thing was created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson.
