Deadpool 2: Brianna Hildebrand On Her Character Development, And How Similar She Is To Negasonic

With all the promotion that Ryan Reynolds did before Deadpool arrived on the big screen, I think may of us knew we were in for something special. The movie had exquisite dark humor, spectacular action scenes, a love interest, but most surprisingly was the role played by a young girl from Texas named Brianna Hildebrand. Her character was a smarmy brat named Negasonic Teenage Warhead (who in the comics had previously died), and she pulled the role off perfectly; from her raised-eyebrow inquisitive stare, to her disparagement of Deadpool at any given moment.

She was the biggest surprise of the movie, and luckily she will be returning in Deadpool 2. But will her character’s demeanor stay the same or will she mature? Screenrant was able to get an interview with her at SXSW (South by Southwest) and ask her about her character development.

“I’ve not yet actually read the script, but I do think she will be a lot cooler, based on the wardrobe ideas and stuff. I’m very excited. [The concept art] Just some ideas, nothing that’s concrete or anything. But I think it’s cool that she’s grown and matured and she still has so much of this essence of a punk kid.”

Hildebrand was also asked about her quick rise to stardom, and just how close she is to Negasonic Teenage Warhead in “real life.”

“That was exciting, just because I felt so close to Negasonic in that she reminded me so much of myself. Like young, teenage/tweenage, angsty like pissed off Brianna is who she reminded me of. It was just like, ‘Oh! She’s so cute. I get her, you know?’ So yeah. That was super exciting to see that people liked her too because it felt like people liked me, or the part of me in there somewhere.”

It sounds like she is living in the moment, and I was so fascinated by the character that I hope to see her in many more Marvel Comics franchise movies. Hopefully, we will see her in X-Force, and maybe one day we will even get the Deadpool/X-Men full crossover. Her next major project is a horror-comedy titled Tragedy Girls, which will focus on two teenage serial killers, and she will co-star with Alexendra Shipp (Storm from X-Men: Apocalypse).

Deadpool 2 will drop in 2018. The only confirmed actors as of now are: Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus. No word as of yet on a Cable casting.

I loved Deadpool and especially Negasonic, but did you like it how they basically gave her Cannonball’s powers? Do you think Negasonic will be more mature in Deadpool 2? Can we please get a Cable confirmation! Who would be your pick for Cable, and who else would you like to see in Deadpool 2?
