Deadpool 2: Domino Is The Film’s ‘Secret Weapon,’ Says Creator Rob Liefeld (Exclusive)

EXCLUSIVE: Earlier today, 20th Century Fox dropped the first full(ish) trailer for The Untitled Deadpool Sequel. In it, we got an extensive introduction to a new key character — Cable. In addition to the overly-serious Cable, we got to see his tone juxtapose with Deadpool’s ridiculousness. However, while we got to see plenty of these two, there is one character we saw very little of: Domino.

As much as we (and many fans) have been anxious to see Josh Brolin take on the role of Cable, we’ve also been curious about what Zazie Beetz would bring to Domino. Sadly, we were only treated to a few shots of her in the new trailer, but don’t think that to mean she won’t be amazing when she is fully revealed.

I had a chance to hop on the phone with Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, and when I asked about Domino in The Untitled Deadpool Sequel, he assured me that fans would be pleased.

“I believe that people are going to flip out over Domino. The reason that people have always liked Domino, because the minute she stepped foot in the issue that Deadpool debuts in, Deadpool takes down Cable and his team, and then Domino takes down Deadpool. Domino resonated because she was just cool. Zazie Beetz was the coolest person possible to play Domino, and it shows, because Domino is just cool. People are going to love her. I’ve already seen all the young ladies that are cosplaying as her. Honestly, Domino is the great secret weapon of the movie. She is the great X-Factor. The movie is obviously being sold on Cable and Deadpool, but people are going to come out loving Domino.”

We can’t help but wonder just how long we will have to wait, though. As it stands, we’ve seen roughly one minute of actual footage from the film, and given their style of marketing, who knows if we’ll be seeing much of Domino before the film hits theaters.

Regardless, we can’t wait to see Beetz take on the role, and the fact that she has such the ardent approval of Liefeld is a great plus.
