Deadpool 2 has been done with production for a while, and with that in mind, it’s usually expected that some sort of teaser would follow down the line. Today, 20th Century Fox surprised us by dropping a full two minute-plus trailer for the upcoming superhero comedy…but it’s not quite what we were expecting.

Rather than be a standard trailer (let’s face it, there’s no reason for us to expect a standard trailer), the majority of this clip is actually one big Bob Ross homage/parody from the Merc with the Mouth. It’s only until we get one minute and 30 seconds in that we see any footage from the actual film, and even that only gives us about a 10-second sizzle reel.

All in all, this is a great return to form for the Deadpool marketing team, and we can’t wait to see what other surprises they have up their sleeves.

In unrelated news, check out the totally accurate synopsis for Deadpool 2 from the studio below:

“After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.”
