One of the big questions for Disney has been how they were going to handle the popular former 20th Century Fox property they acquired, Deadpool. Especially when the character doesn’t really fit the Marvel Studios family mold that they have delivered throughout the years. What would Deadpool look like in a Disney Avengers film? While we are not holding our breath on that dream crossover, we do have news on a future Deadpool feature film.
According to Deadline, Marvel Studios has brought in Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin to write Deadpool 3. Ryan Reynolds is set to once again reprise his role as Deadpool. Reports say that winter meetings have been taking place over the past month with writers where they pitched their ideas to Reynolds. After those were set and done, they found that the Molyneux sisters were the right fit for what they wanted. This is a big step for Disney in getting the third Deadpool film into production.
There are a lot of things that are currently being worked out. For example, it’s expected that the film will have a new director. Director of Deadpool 2, David Leitch, is busy through the end of next year. It’s interesting to note that he wasn’t included in the search for writers. It is also expected to still carry the “R” rating.

The Molyneux sisters are writing partners. They serve as creators, showrunners, and executive producers on the upcoming Fox series, The Great North. They are also executive producers and writers on the animated series, Bobs Burgers also on Fox. In 2017 they won an Emmy for Bobs Burgers and have been nominated for eight consecutive years.
It will be interesting to see what kind of influence Disney/Marvel Studios will have on the Deadpool franchise. I have a feeling that Reynolds won’t allow them to make any major changes to the franchise that had done well without the mouse. With the Molyneux sisters writing one of my favorite animated series, I feel like are at least putting together a solid creative team.
