DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 Full Cover Reveal And First Story Details

The walls between Marvel and DC are coming down, at least for a moment, as today Marvel Comics pulled back the curtain on every cover for DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1, including a look at the final three variants by superstar artists J. Scott Campbell, Pepe Larraz, and Esad Ribić.

This landmark one shot, hitting comic shops on September 17, marks the first Marvel/DC crossover in decades, pairing Marvel’s irreverent Merc with a Mouth with DC’s Dark Knight for what promises to be an unforgettable clash. Even more excitement is on the way this November, when DC answers back with BATMAN/DEADPOOL #1.

Fans who can’t get enough of these dream matchups will find even more on the covers. Ribić’s intense piece focuses on Deadpool and Batman’s brutal faceoff, while Campbell and Larraz tease epic side battles worthy of the crossover hype featuring X-Men heavy hitters Psylocke vs. the vigilante Huntress, and Rogue tangling with Batman’s own Poison Ivy.

Written by Zeb Wells and drawn by Greg Capullo, DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 sets Wade Wilson loose in Gotham just as disaster strikes. “Deadpool shows up when Gotham City is in imminent danger. The worst possible time,” Wells teased in an interview with IGN. “Batman doesn’t have a lot of patience for Deadpool. And Wade’s take on Batman is…complicated. In the most Deadpool way possible.”

Capullo, who reunites with the Dark Knight after years on Batman and draws Deadpool for the first time since his X-Force days, added: “For me, it’s sort of working with the bookends of my career. That’s pretty amazing to me.”
