The Defenders shows will get 4K on Disney+ eventually confirmed Disney yesterday. March 16th, yesterday, saw all the Defender shows that were previously on Netflix move over to Disney+. However fans then noticed that the shows were only available in HD/SD options and not 4K. One fan asked the question and got a response from the official Disney+ account on social media. Check it out.

Hello, Ryan! In an effort to make this highly-anticipated content available to Disney+ subscribers ASAP, we opted to launch in HD/SDR to start, but UHD versions will be available soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks for asking Ryan. It does seem slightly odd that Disney were not able to launch the 4K versions of these shows considering you could watch them in 4K on Netflix. Perhaps there is some difference in the way Disney+ streams it’s UHD content compared to Netflix and this has caused a delay? Of all those Defenders shows, the only ones I would watch again are Daredevil Seasons 1-3 which were excellent. Since I have seen them all before, I am quite happy to wait for them to be in UHD quality.

What is far more interesting to me is what happens next? Will these shows be incorporated fully into the canon of the MCU. Or will this issue remain a murky, muddied river as they just carry on with the characters they want and abandon the others? It seems like there is a Daredevil movie or show in the works, though details are flimsy according to the Barside Buzz. So far there have been almost no rumors around any of the other characters from the Netflix Defenders shows.

Actually I guess now I need to simply call them the Defenders shows. Daredevil and Fisk are both MCU canon now, and both are expected to appear in the upcoming Echo Disney+ series. However after that what will come next for Murdock and Fisk? I guess we will know more this time next year?
