Destiny 2: The Final Shape Plus New Game Marathon Teasers Revealed By Bungie

Destiny 2: The Final Shape Plus New Game Marathon Teasers Revealed By Bungie. Read on for more details and trailers.

In the recent PlayStation Showcase, we had some interesting news from game developer Bungie. Bungie revealed the first Destiny 2: The Final Shape teaser alongside a Marathon teaser trailer. Oh and Marathon is a brand new game from Bungie despite also being their first game before even the Halo days.

Let’s start with the expected reveal. Below is a teaser trailer for Destiny 2’s final expansion next year titled The Final Shape. Bungie has said before that The Final Shape will bring the close to the Light and Dark saga in Destiny. However, the studio has also hinted that there could be more Destiny coming later. Check out that teaser and Destiny fans will immediately recognize the return of a dead character in Cayde-6 (Nathan Fillion).

Why Cayde is back, and why Ikora is talking to him, remains a mystery? There are I think two possibilities. One that Ikora also dies and this is some sort of afterlife moment. Two, that inside the Traveller (where they appear to be) breaks all the rules and as such Cayde can be alive there.

I guess we will find out more at the advertised showcase of The Final Shape in August. Going by previous expansions, The Final Shape should release around February next year.

Today’s tease of the next Destiny 2 expansion was just that: a teaser. The epic conclusion to the Light & Darkness Saga is on its way and we can’t wait to share more with you in August during our Destiny 2 Showcase event. Look for this livestreamed show on Tuesday, August 22, where the Destiny development team will be breaking down everything you need to know about The Final Shape and provide a look forward into the future of Destiny 2.

Marathon

Perhaps more of a surprise was that Bungie revealed the new IP they have been working on. The surprise being it’s not a new IP at all, but a resurrection of Bungie’s first ever game, Marathon. However, unlike that old game which was a single player shooter, this Marathon will be a PVP focused game, set within that same Universe. Check out the reveal trailer below. For now, there honestly isn’t that much to look at. What we do know is that this will be an extraction type PVP game.

Bungie did offer a few more details on Marathon as you can see below. I have to say, so far this one doesn’t interest me. For a start I’m not into PVP only games and frankly the trailer is kinda meh. It is early days though and as such perhaps they don’t have much they can show us?

Today we showed Bungie fans worldwide a glimpse of our future at the PlayStation Showcase, in the forms of two major game announcements. First up, we officially announced Marathon to the world! This is the first completely new project from Bungie in more than a decade. Marathon is a sci-fi PvP extraction shooter where players will embody cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners. Exploring a lost colony on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV, Runners – working solo or as part of three-person crews – will fight for survival, for riches, and for fame.

There was also a Q&A specific to Marathon which you can find on the source article link above.

What do you think as Bungie revealed the first Destiny 2: The Final Shape teaser alongside a Marathon teaser trailer announcement? Are you excited for The Final Shape, what about Marathon, is that a game which you think will tix your gaming boxes? As always, leave any thoughts below.
