Today we are sharing director Jake Schreier’s first comments about Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot. Schreier, long rumored for the gig was confirmed as the X-Men director by Marvel boss Kevin Feige last week. Now that Schreier can officially talk about the film, he still didn’t have much to say.
First off, here’s what Feige said about the X-Men movie.
“Jake’s going to make a youth-focused reboot. That may be reflected in mutant castings, and it’ll definitely be felt in the tone and perspective of the film.”
Following this in an interview with The Playlist, Schreier said,
“I mean, yeah, without going into too much—really almost any detail. What I can say is, it’s just inherently interesting and complex material.”
“The core idea of what ‘X-Men’ is involves complexity. It’s an incredible opportunity with super interesting characters and [much] internal conflict. These characters are wrestling with their identity and place in the world—that’s inherently interesting and complex material.”
Asked if this would be different to the FoX-Men movies?
“Yeah, I think that’s fair to say. There’s that red sniper dot out there somewhere, you know.”
“But to be able to explore all of the ideas that are inherent to that rich source material, but also at the scale inherent to the source material, that’s like a very rare and fortunate opportunity. That’s very exciting.”

The casting process will for sure be underway now as the script continues to be worked on by writer Michael Lesslie. However, given we won’t see X-Men until after Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, I wouldn’t expect Marvel to announce them till next year sometime.
So, what do you think of director Jake Schreier’s first comments about Marvel’s X-Men reboot? Thoughts below as always.
