So I don’t think it’s a huge secret that a good number of moviregoers aren’t too impressed with Will Smith’s portrayal of the genie in Disney’s upcoming live-actin remake of their classic animated film, Aladdin.
You can look around social media to get what is more or less the consensus. Ever confident, the House of Mouse released a statement in reference to the backlash, predicting that viewers will have a change of heart once they’ve seen the film. You can check out an excerpt form the statement below.
“We have one of the most anticipated films of the year and are confident that audiences will fall in love with the Genie and all of the characters when it hits the big screen this May.”

I guess I am in the minority on this one, as I feel Smith will do a great job as the genie, and sort of feel like there isn’t really enough footage to make a decision.
Though I’ve never really cared for his music, I love Will Smith as an actor and am going to withhold judgement until I’ve seen the film. One of my favorite directors in Guy Ritchie is behind the project and his involvement alone gives me much comfort.
