Disney made a Disney+ Day 2022 announcement today and the sophomore subscriber celebration will coincide with the Pinocchio premiere date of September 8th this year. This far out it’s hard to predict exactly what the next Disney+ Day will consist of. Last year, in November of 2021, the first Disney+ Day came along with a slew of premieres, featurettes, and sizzle reels of upcoming content.

Outside of Pinocchio there has been no other premieres or any such content yet announced. However, this far out, that is hardly surprising. If you remember the last Disney+ Day we got quite a lot of news from Marvel Studios and Pixar, but almost nothing from Lucasfilm. At the time we predicted, (accurately) that Lucasfilm were waiting for Star Wars Celebration, which has just taken place this last weekend. That being said, there will be upcoming Lucasfilm content. November of this year sees the premiere of Willow, then we have The Mandalorian Season 3 in February. Currently there are two animated Lucasfilm shows due to hit in Fall ’22 and that’s The Bad Batch Season 2 and Tales of the Jedi. Therefore, this year, we may see a little more Lucasfilm content than last, maybe?
As for Marvel Studios, there is always something due out soon on Disney+. Whilst we don’t have a solid date, Secret Invasion is due around the same time as this year’s Disney+ Day. Then X-men ’97 is due for release sometime in early 2023 and the announcement of that show was a feature of last year’s events. Other Marvel Studios shows that are undated include Ironheart, Echo, and Loki Season 2. That’s just going on productions which may well be underway or already filmed by September this year.

Who knows what other goodies we will hear more of on Disney+ Day? Or, what movies or shows may get a premiere to coincide with? Personally I am not all that excited for Pinocchio. However, I’m not sure that one is aimed at my demographic anyway. Pinocchio is a live-action retelling of the classic Disney animated movie. Pinocchio is directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks as Gepetto and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket.
What do you think of the Disney+ Day 2022 announcement and the Pinocchio premiere date both being September 8th? Are you excited for this event, or disappointed with what you got last year? As always, leave any thoughts below, or over on Discord.
