Like Thanos, this move from Disney was inevitable. According to Variety, the Walt Disney Company has started the process of officially axing the word “Fox” from their recently-acquired companies. That means 20th Century Fox will now be known as 20th Century Studios and Fox Searchlight Pictures will be called Searchlight Pictures.
This is a smart move from the House of Mouse, as the name “Fox” still appears out there with brands they don’t own, such as Fox News and Fox Sports. Now that the entities are completely separate, it was only a matter of time before they found the need to rebrand the entities into something different. Plus, I’m sure it’ll make it easier to make the companies feel more their own.

As it stands, Fox email addresses have been changed, with fox.com ones being changed to searchlightpictures.com ones for Searchlight employees. But what does this mean for TV? Will the network FOX go through a completely different change?
The outlet states that no final decision has been made on that front, but I would be surprised if the network name doesn’t change, as it’s yet another dangling thread from previous ownership.
