Folks we have a Disney theatrical slate update from yesterday, and we’re breaking it down, this is the Star Wars Edition. You’ll also find the Marvel Edition posted alongside this on the front page, plus some updates already published outside of the big two.
So what have we found out about Star Wars theatrical releases? Check out the official slate below posted on social media.
UPDATE: Disney has sent its updated theatrical schedule for 2024-2031.
– UNTITLED ALIEN MOVIE is now ALIEN ROMULUS – 8/16/24
– MOANA 2 is 11/27/24
– ZOOTOPIA 2 is officially 11/26/25
– 2026 will feature two STAR WARS movies, so MANDO & GROGU can be either May or Dec pic.twitter.com/0rI4tQkc2A— Erik Davis (@ErikDavis) February 7, 2024
The official list shows three untitled Star Wars movies. However we know 100% what one of them is as Davis said in his post above. 5/22/26 says untitled but Bob Iger confirmed on yesterdays Disney earnings call (link) that this one was The Mandalorian and Grogu. We also have an untitled movie scheduled for December 2026. No official comments on this one, but you’d have to assume this will be the Obaid-Chinoy directed Rey sequel movie.
Finally we have another untitled Star Wars movie due to hit on 12/17/27. For now we cannot say what movie this may be. There are several Star Wars movies in development outside of the two mentioned. Taika Waititi is still writing a Star Wars movie, so is James Mangold set in the Dawn of the Jedi era. We also have a movie in early development from Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy. All three of those guys have tight schedules, so who can say which one will happen first?

It is also possible this could be the spot earmarked for Dave Filoni’s MandoVerse movie which is also still in development. However, Filoni first needs to make the Ahsoka Season 2 Disney+ series.
The only, head scratcher in this list is the May, 2026 movie dropping so close to The Kang Dynasty. My guess, (which I discuss in the sister article to this) is that Avengers would be the one more likely to move. I cannot see Disney dropping two giant movies like this so close together. This was a potential factor in Solo‘s poor performance at the box office. Though, in my opinion hardly the driving factor.
I guess we will just have to see how that one pans out. However, I am pressing f to doubt both these movies drop in in May, 2026.
What do you think of this new Disney theatrical slate, or at least the Star Wars aspects of it? As always, leave any thoughts you have below.
