You bet your ass Disney is working hard to make their upcoming Disney+ streaming service worth the price (whatever price it may ultimately be). In addition to being the go-to place for all Disney movies once they’ve had their run in theaters, there will also be all sorts of extra content like original TV shows and films, with many being based on properties from Marvel, Star Wars, and of course, Disney itself.
But what sort of original shows can be derived from Disney? Well, it looks like a villain-centric one, if we are to believe a report from Production Weekly. According to a recent tweet from them, the House of Mouse is developing such a show, and that it comes from Once Upon a Time‘s Steve Pearlman and Quantico‘s Michael Seitzman. Honestly, this is a bit surprising to me. We usually don’t hear too much about shows that are around a year or more away from hitting production, so I find this a bit odd. It also gives the project plenty of time to sort of fade into obscurity should not everything fall into place.
All that aside, this idea actually makes a lot of sense. ABC had a lot of success with Once Upon a Time, so going that way with a different slant could be a fun way to shake things up. There is no word on which villains would be used, but given the big library of films, the sky is really the limit.
