Disney Wants More Marvel One-Shots

Remember those Marvel One-shots? They were short films made set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they often followed supporting characters who, for some reason or another, fell away from the main narrative of the films.

Perhaps the most memorable of those one-shots was “All Hail The King,” which followed Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slatterly — the faux Mandarin in Iron Man 3. In the short, we see the actor’s life in prison, and there is even a hint that there’s a real Mandarin out there somewhere. However, after that film, they pretty much stopped producing them.

For some time now, they’ve been teasing their return, but it’s yet to happen. EW caught up with Marvel producer Lous D’Esposito about this, and here’s what he had to say.

“We’re just so busy. Disney wants us to do it, we want to do it, and I keep telling them, ‘I’ll do it on the next film,’ but I keep breaking my promise.”

All right, bosses! Keep on pestering these guys! I don’t know about you, but I need more shorts in my life to help expand the mythology beyond the main films. These shorts are great and really help fill in the color of the world they’ve established.

I have to at least acknowledge we haven’t been left completely high and dry. Taika Waititi has given us a batch of “Team Thor” shorts, and while they aren’t canon, they are pretty fun. I’m always up for more content for the digital and Blu-ray extras!
