Divergent Series Director Tapped To Helm G.I. Joe Spin-Off Snake Eyes

And round and round the reboot train goes. Hollywood has already had a couple of shots at the G.I. Joe franchise, and in spite of their best efforts, it didn’t really do much for audiences. Sure, they both did well enough to somewhat make even, but they didn’t inspire enough confidence to really move ahead as created — in spite of bringing in the likes of Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis to spice things up.

Either way, it looks like Paramount is ready to return back to the well, as indicated by a new report from THR. According to them, Robert Schwentke, who directed RED, R.I.P.D., Insurgent, and Allegiant, has been brought on to helm a spin-off movie, Snake Eyes.

He will be directing a script from Beauty and Beast screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos.

Snake Eyes is, of course, an original character from the toy line, but has also been portrayed twice by Ray Park in the live-action films. There’s no word yet on whether or not this movie will actually be connected with the previous films, but either way, it doesn’t sound like Park will be returning to take on the role.

What do you think of Schwentke hopping on board as director? Let us know down below!
