So after one false start (Green Lantern) and several years of waiting, the DC Extended Universe — Warner Bros.’ long-awaited response to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — is officially underway. Though, while this may be the case, it’d be an understatement to say that, to many, the films haven’t lived up to their full potential. The theatrical cut of Batman v Superman featured a muddled plot, and Suicide Squad (while still an enjoyable film in my eyes) was a bit of a mess as well on a few different levels.
As a result, the DC Films infrastructure has had a bit of a shakeup, with Geoff Johns taking the head role, resulting in some pretty hefty changes in the upcoming Justice League film.
One film, however, that is likely not to have a lot of changes is the upcoming Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman. Given how poorly received the last two films in the DCEU have been received, this certainly puts an unfair amount of pressure on the film, as well as every piece of advertising to come out for it.
The first trailer, which premiered at Comic-Con, was quite the hit among fans, but it’s only a matter of time before we get a second trailer featuring the Amazon warrior, and based on a couple of images, it seems that time may be sooner rather than later.
CBM recently shared a couple new photos — the sources of which are currently unknown. The first looks like it was taken from a magazine of some sort, so who knows if it has anything to do with the trailer.
It’s the second that is most interesting, since it has a watermark that indicates it’s from TrailerPark, the company that cut together the stellar Suicide Squad trailers. From the looks of it, the shot is a frame from an unfinished VFX shot, and may be indicative a new shot we’ll be getting in an upcoming trailer.
The synopsis for Wonder Woman is below:
“Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in theoutside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.”
