The holidays just arrived for Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson in the Doctor Who franchise as they make their debut in the Doctor Who Christmas Special titled The Church on Ruby Road.

The brief synopsis reads as follows:

Long ago on Christmas Eve, a baby was abandoned in the snow. Today, Ruby Sunday meets the Doctor, stolen babies, goblins, and perhaps the secret of her birth.

The special welcomes Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor of the long-running franchise and Millie Gibson as his new companion Ruby Sunday.

Ncuti Gatwa may be a familiar face from the Netflix comedy series Sex Education as the gay teenager Eric Effiong. As for Millie Gibson, she appeared for a few seasons in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street.

The additional cast includes Davina McCall as herself, Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday, Angela Wynter as Cherry Sunday, and Anita Dobson as Mrs. Flood.

A premiere took place earlier today in London, in which Gatwa and Gibson pushed to light up the London Eye landmark in the colors of Doctor Who. The post-Q&A of the premiere had Gatwa, Gibson, and showrunner Russell T. Davies at the British Film Institute.

The Christmas Special of Doctor Who premieres on Disney+ at 9:55 a.m. PT/12:55 ET. The other Doctor Who 60^th Anniversary Specials with The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder, and The Giggle are now streaming on Disney+.
