It’s always a bit of a big deal whenever Doctor Who changes up its lead. This is a character who changes every few seasons, as the actor and story both dictate, and for those who somehow don’t know, it happens through a regeneration.

At the moment when the Doctor — who is a Time Lord — bites the dust, he regenerates into a completely different form. With it changes his clothing, personality, and all-around viewpoint on life. The last four incarnations since the franchise’s reboot in the mid-2000s were played by Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi, and now the time has come to see Capaldi’s version eat it and make way for a brand new take.

This is an especially iconic moment since this incarnation of the Doctor is set to be played by a woman — actress Jodi Whittaker, to be specific. And now, thanks to a Facebook post from the official Doctor Who Twitter account, those who couldn’t see the Christmas special now have a chance to see that regeneration take place.

As expected, based on how little we’ve seen of this new take on the Doctor, it looks like Whittaker will be retaining the character’s trademark quirkiness, but will her adventures be as engaging as her predecessors? That will take time for us to tell.

In the meantime, what did you think of her regeneration scene? Let us know your thoughts down below!
