According to some new Barside Buzz Marvel’s Champions Disney+ series may have a showrunner in Rachna Fruchbom. Nexus Point News are reporting they’ve heard Fruchbom, who is currently writing and exec producing Shrinking Season 3 will be leading the series.

‘Nexus Point News can exclusively report that Rachna Fruchbom is set to write Champions, a TV series in early development at Marvel Studios. Fruchbom will presumably showrun and executive produce the series as well. This is following the report by X user, @ApocHorseman, that a series centered on Marvel’s younger heroes is being developed under the title Champions.’

Of course, this is hardly a trade report, but the outlet has a decent hit rate. Given the new model Marvel are adopting for their TV series, as showrunner is first on the list. Marvel will have showrunners for all their TV series now, which will be designed around a yearly release schedule.

Champions of course was at one time known as Young Avengers. The issues being, things have taken so long, they are not that young any longer.

It does seem as if this one has to come along eventually. Never mind the rumors, Marvel Studios has set up this team numerous times across previous projects. None more so than Kamala Khan recruiting Kate Bishop in the stinger for The Marvels.

However, I’ll guess we need Secret Wars done with before we will see Champions on screen. Still, first it needs to be written, so as I said, a showrunner is step one.

What do you think of the rumor that Marvel’s Champions Disney+ series may have a showrunner in Rachna Fruchbom? Thoughts below.
