Dolph Lundgren Doesn’t Think Sylvester Stallone Is Done With Rocky

Somehow, over the past decade-plus, Sylvester Stallone has managed to make Rocky relevant again. He had a solid resurgence in the film Rocky Balboa (no matter how unrealistic that fight was), but it wasn’t until Creed hit a few years back that we all really started to appreciate his inspiration and overall legacy.

Of course, when Creed hit theaters, Stallone was nominated for an Oscar for reprising his role as the former boxer, and further cemented the character’s importance in pop culture. And just as quickly as he returned, it looks like his time as Rocky is now at an end. The actor took to Instagram to say that the torch has officially been passed and that Rocky’s story has been told, but not everyone is convinced he’s actually done. Speaking with Good Morning Britain, Creed II co-star Dolph Lundgren expressed his doubt that Stallone was actually done.

“I’ve heard that before. I don’t really believe it, but we’ll see.”

Lundgren reprised his role as Ivan Drago in Creed II, and as an actor with a history with the franchise, it’s hard not to at least trust his own instinct, but he’s not alone. Florian Munteanu, who played Ivan’s son, Viktor Drago, also thinks Rocky will return, but in a smaller role.

“I don’t think so either, but maybe not the big way that he turned out in the Rocky and the Creed franchise. I think, like, a smaller role maybe. We’ll see.”
