With the culmination of Marvel’s previous phases in Avengers: Endgame, we know that other characters will be coming in as replacements. News continues to grow with the success of WandaVision and as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier hit the ground running. With Disney+ having the likes of She-Hulk, Hawkeye, and Ms. Marvel shows on the horizon, another character makes the list. Although it is in pre-production, Dominique Thorne is going to be playing Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart. While this news was reported earlier this week, the way she came into part is not the typical route.
Thorne’s film credits may not be extensive, but the roles she plays have definitely made an impact. She is known for her roles in If Beagle Street Could Talk and Judas and the Black Messiah. Thorne will absolutely bring credibility to the role of Ironheart! The actress discusses how she came into the role:
“I was at home in Delaware and I got a call asking if I would like to play this role. It was the best phone call I could have ever received. I was so shocked, in fact, that there was a considerable lag in the conversation! I was waiting for them to say, like, ‘Oh, we’ll send you the sides’, or, ‘Get your tape over to us.’ But there was none of that. It was just like, ‘Would you like to do this?’ It was probably the most unique experience I’ve ever had because there was no audition at all.”
I am sure she is shocked since no audition took place! However, her roles speak for themselves and the company obviously knows exactly what they want for Ironheart. And it looks like Thorne is that woman!

Some may not be as familiar with Ironheart. The character hits comics in 2015 by Brian Michael Bendis and Michel Deodota. Riri Williams is a young, prodigy inventor who creates an advanced armored-suit comparable to Iron Man’s. Many comic followers think there could be a set up for the Armor Wars. Could Ironheart take over the role left from the demise of Tony Stark?
What are your thoughts? Are you excited for an Ironheart show? Or, if you are not as familiar with the character, are you now interested? What do you think about Dominique Throne nailing the role without an audition? Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
