Dominique Thorne talks Ironheart casting for the first time since she was announced. Thorne will play Riri Williams, a somewhat spiritual successor to Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Ironheart will star Thorne as Williams, but other than that we don’t know much? It’s just a guess, but I think most fans feel like Thorne might show up in Armor Wars also?
Thorne recently had a chat with blackfilmandTV.com, and opened up for the first time about this massive role for Marvel.
Thorne was asked whether she knew about Riri Williams before accepting the part.
“Absolutely. I think my mother might disown me if I didn’t. It’s very much a Marvel household. I did know about Ironheart before I was approached with the role. So it was, it was an awe inspiring moment to think that I would be chosen to portray this woman and to bring her to the screen in this way. So yeah.”
Thorne was then asked if she had been researching the character, as Marvel fans will expect her to know who she is playing?
“I would expect nothing less. I’m looking forward to really doing the deep dive. I’ve definitely run through as many of the comics as I can. I’m so ready to do more.”

I must admit that I am not that familiar with Ironheart myself. I think Riri was first created long after I stopped my comic book career. However, I know that Williams has mad skills like Stark, and I am ready to find out more in the MCU.
Will it be Riri’s debut that causes the Armor Wars? Will she instead be the one to end that conflict as she takes on the mantle herself? So much to explore and with Marvel you know it will never happen exactly like it does in the comics.
