FX’s Atlanta, the comedy series created by Donald Glover, has been very well received by critics and audiences alike. The first season was nominated for six Emmy Awards, winning two. Currently Season two of the show holds a 99% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
With that said, we have learned via Variety that Atlanta has been renewed for a third season at FX. The show stars Glover alongside Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfield. The executive producer for the show is Glover alongside his brother Stephen with Paul Simms, Dianne McGunigle and Hiro Murai.
FX Networks and FX Productions co-president Nick Gad had this to say about the show:
“’Atlanta’ is phenomenal, achieving and exceeding what few television series have done. With ‘Atlanta: Robbin’ Season,’ Donald and his collaborators elevated the series to even greater heights, building on the enormous success of their award-winning first season. We’re grateful to the producers and our extraordinary cast and crew for achieving this level of excellence, and we share the excitement with our audience about the third season knowing they will continue to take us to unexpected and thrilling places.”
It is unknown when the third season would premiere. With the popularity of the show’s cast quickly rising, it would seem like we may have to wait a while for the third season. Just Glover alone has recently starred in Solo: A Star Wars Story as Lando Calrissian and has a very successful music career as Childish Gambino. Not to mention his stand up comedy.
