According to Deadline‘s Justin Kroll, don’t expect a Kang recast announcement anytime soon. Rumors have already started making claims of who Marvel are looking at to replace sacked Jonathan Majors. However Kroll, whilst he says he has no knowledge of the casting process, does not expect to hear anything officially anytime soon.

To be fair, this is a lot of common sense rather than something requiring a trade. I mean Majors just got fired, and as far as we know there’s no urgent reason to recast Kang immediately. As said in rumors, so far it’s actors who are interesting Marvel for the role rather than anyone being in advanced talks. Ergo, it could conceivably be years before we officially hear about a new Kang. In other words fans, stop asking when Kang is getting announced.

I mean, we don’t even have the Fantastic Four cast announced yet and that films this year. It’s also known that the movie which was called The Kang Dynasty is now being rewritten by Secret Wars scribe Michael Waldron.

This isn’t dismissing any rumor this week about potential contenders for the role, I don’t have any intel on those being true or not true it’s just letting you know, if I were betting what gets announced first, Kang or the field, I’d put money on the field

If you check out the related section above, you’ll see one name rumored so far is Colman Domingo. However, that rumors only said Domingo was one of the actors Marvel were looking at. Therefore, we could just be at the start of that recasting process, which likely only officially began on the day Majors was found guilty of assault charges.

One of the other rumors we’ve heard is that Kang will take a backseat until he returns as The Beyonder, which will help sell the actor change. Presumably akin to He Who Remains, perhaps The Beyonder is the final Kang alive after he’s defeated all his variants.

Either way, if Kang returns in some form, which seems likely, he needs to be recast. Just don’t expect to hear an announcement any time soon.
