The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo sequel/reboot, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, has found their Mikael Blomkvist. According to Variety, the man who will be playing him is none other than Borg/McEnroe star Sverrir Gudnason.

Of course, most recently the character was played in the David Fincher-directed Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Daniel Craig.

Those who have read the books know that the novels are just as much about this investigative journalist as they are about the enigmatic Lisbeth Salander, and it’s great to know they’ve landed a solid actor to take on the role.

Gudnason will be joining a cast that currently consists of Claire Foy as Lisbeth, Solvia Hoeks as Lisbeth’s twin sister, and Claes Bang as one of the villains. Directing this movie is Don’t Breathe helmer Fede Alvarez.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web is set to be the first adaptation of the Millennium Series since Fincher’s Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, a film that was well received by critics, but didn’t do too well at the box office. Rather than simply move forward with the same cast, Sony opted to reboot by adapting the fourth book in the series, giving the franchise a soft reboot.
