For Drew Van Acker, his dream came true when he donned the super suit to portray Aqualad.

Although it was only for a couple of episodes for DC Universe’s Titans, it made his childhood dreams come true.

LRM Online spoke with Drew Van Acker earlier this month about his espionage spoof Spy Intervention. During our conversation, he spoke briefly about the excitement of being on Titans as a superhero.

He explained, “Titans is something that came across my desk for me. Right off the bat, I was very, very excited. I was familiar with Titans growing up. With the show Teen Titans, I was very familiar with the character, with the story, and with the group on where they fit into the whole DC world. As an actor, or with any kid getting into acting, you dream of playing these characters that you grow up watching.”

He had strong admiration of the production getting things right by being meticulous.

“I have nieces and nephews who know these characters as well. For me, it was a no brainer to kind of jump in and had as much fun with that. The idea of getting fitted for a super-suit and working with DC was unbelievable. You can see how much care, time, and effort they put into the suits, the style, and the world,” he addressed. “It was unforgettable for me, and the fans are amazing. The fans are incredible. They found nothing, but to love. So it’s all you can ask for.”

Aqualad is a member of the Titans for a few months. His abilities included superhuman durability and reflexes, along with hydrokinesis—the ability to manipulate bodies of water around him. The character is also known as Garth, a member of the Atlanteans. In the comics (not the show), he is known as the sidekick to Aquaman.
