DUCKTALES Cast Announcement: New Voice Cast Sings The Iconic Theme Song!

Gotta love the nostalgia high we constantly live on in today’s day and age. At this point, almost nowhere in Hollywood can you see a previously-beloved property that’s remained untouched. At some point or another, this industry will repackage and re-release these properties in a way that makes eternal suckers out of old-school fans. Though every so often, Hollywood manages to press all the right buttons in a way that celebrates the very fandom that they hope to pay homage to. Let’s hope that’s the case with the upcoming DuckTales revival.

A couple weeks back, Disney XD released a banner and oh-so-minor teaser that revealed the summer release date for the long-awaited series. However, aside from a glimpse at the art style, and a throwback to the opening theme song, there were very few details actually shared with hungry audiences.

In that same vein, Disney XD has released a new cast announcement video, wherein each of the cast members sings a portion of the DuckTales theme song.

Check it out below!

As shown in the video, the cast is as follows:

Bobby Moynihan as Louie
Ben Schwartz as Dewey
Danny Pudi as Huey
Kate Micucci as Webby
Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley
Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack
David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck

Off the bat, there are a few interesting notes on the cast here. First and foremost was the fact that they locked down David Tennant — a Scottish actor — to take on the role of a Scottish duck. Love the fact that they actually managed to do that, and I’m interested to hear the results.

The other interesting aspect comes in the form of Scrooge’s great-nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. In the past, they were voiced by one female in a very distinct style. With this revival, they have cast three different men for these roles. As such, we’re likely to see a lot more distinct personalities between this trio than we ever did in the past. I only hope that it won’t take me long to get over the fact that these triplets a) as similar as they should, b) aren’t as “duck”-like as we’ve seen in the past, and c) sound much older than they are.
