Elseworlds: Stephen Amell Worried About Channeling His Inner Barry Allen Too Much

We have some fun times in store for us this coming weekend. This Sunday will kick off the three-episode Elseworlds crossover. Of course, as it has been for the past few years, this will see the worlds of Barry Allen, Oliver Queen, and Kara Danvers collide like never before. Seriously, this year will be a bit different.

These three won’t just be facing a big enemy that the group can only take on, but Barry Allen and Oliver Queen will actually be trading lives. As indicated in recent trailers, one day Oliver wakes up only to find out that he is his friend Barry Allen. Sure, he looks like Oliver Queen, but to everyone else, he is Barry Allen, and he even has his friend’s Speedster skills.

Needless to say, the actors are going to go nuts with this, and speaking with CBR, actor Stephen Amell discussed channeling his inner Barry Allen for this crossover:

“I had so much fun, but we had a discussion very early on that if this was going to work, that we really had to go for it, right? So there are elements of because he has my learned abilities, and I have his superpowers, there are elements of each other’s personality that each of us have to embrace in order to be successful at the mission that’s in front of us. So every once in a while, I’m channeling my inner Barry Allen, and I’m looking at Grant after the take going, ‘Is it too much?'”

“But no, we had a blast. I think that the crossovers this year, even if we don’t have as many DC characters necessarily as we did last year, this feels like the first time or at the very least the best example of us just embracing the fun of it all and embracing all of the opportunities that we have because of all of the things that we’ve had a chance to do over the years.”

I’ve stated this before, but even as someone who has mostly fallen off the CW bandwagon this past season, I will definitely be tuning in for this. What seems most rewarding for me is how little it seems to rely on the story’s season. In the past, they’ve generally tried to continue on the stories in each respective series in the crossovers, but with this one, it looks like they’ll be bringing everything to a grinding halt, which, I think, is a good thing.
