Elvar Gunnarsson Talks Strange And Terrifying Film with It Hatched | AFF 2021 [Exclusive Interview]

It Hatched directed by Elvar Gunnarsson

While Icelandish film Lamb with Noomi Rapace is still in theaters, audiences may soon realize it may not be the only strangest and horrifying tale out of the distant island. During this month’s Austin Film Festival, another imported film It Hatched demonstrated it can be more stranger and horrifying with its story.

Here’s the synopsis:

It Hatched follows the couple, Mira and Petur, on their journey from Nashville, Tenn., to Iceland, where they’re planning to open a guesthouse in a remote fjord. Their plans are soon altered when an ancient Icelandic demon starts harassing them with vivid night terrors. What follows is a chain of events that include Petur facing dementia Mira laying an infant-sized egg, and them both squaring up against the tall task of…..parenting.

The cast includes Gunnar Kristinsson, Vivian Ólafsdóttir, Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir and Þór Túliníus. Elvar Gunnarsson makes his directorial debut.
