An hour ago, Emma Watson took to her Facebook page to announce that she will be the lead in Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and The Beast. The former Harry Potter star is very excited to be bringing the role, a childhood favorite of hers, to life.

Beauty and The Beast will be the latest in a series of live-action takes on Disney’s animated classics. The Mouse House recently explored its Sleeping Beauty with Maleficent, and we they’ve also got a new Cinderella on the way.

Interestingly, Watson was once loosely attached to a rival Beauty and The Beast production that was set to be directed by Guillermo del Toro. Looks like the prospect of playing the version of Belle that gets to sing Disney’s classic songs was enough to lure her away.
