Vivica A. Fox will be back for Independence Day 2, even if her onscreen love interest from the first film (Will Smith) is sitting this one out. This news comes straight from director Roland Emmerich. The master of destroying major landmarks took to twitter to reveal the signing:

In the 1996 original Fox played the stripper with a heart of gold, Jasmine Dubrow. Following Emmerich’s announcement, Fox took to her own twitter to respond:

Independence Day 2 is slated to be released on June 24, 2016, almost exactly 20 years after the first came out.
