According to a new report from Variety, Ezra Miller still has a chance to be Flash in the new DCU. We all are aware of all the internal drama that has marked the transition between the DCEU that was, and the DCU that will be. Variety‘s report mostly deals with Dwayne Johnson’s failed power play for the studio amid the box office failures of Black Adam. However there are also a couple of mentions in the report about what does come next.
The last few days have seen rumors spread that WB execs are very happy with The Flash movie. As happy as they’ve been about a DC movie since The Dark Knight trilogy. Now, I’m not sure if I buy that or not. However according to Variety, and despite what we all thought, they say there is a chance troubled star Ezra Miller could return. Here are the relevant parts of that post, you can read the full article in the link above.

As 2023 kicks off, DC bosses Gunn and Safran continue to sift through the rubble and will soon reveal their three-year interconnected vision for the cinematic universe, which won’t include Cavill’s Superman or Wonder Woman at all. (Debunked see below)
As for what else Gunn and Safran have planned for DC’s future, sources describe it as a broad but not blanket reset. At this point, nothing is ruled out. Given that Miller has stayed out of trouble since beginning mental health treatment in the summer, some executives are amenable to continuing with the actor as the world-saving speedster after “The Flash” bows on June 16. “Aquaman,” “Shazam!,” “Blue Beetle” and Gunn’s “Peacemaker” series for HBO Max all could have a place at the table. Gunn and Safran, who were recommended by De Luca, have the full backing of the WBD top ranks.
Personally I’m not so sure. Ezra has frankly never been popular as the choice for Barry Allen. Even SnyderVerse fans were lukewarm on Miller’s casting and performance. However since none of us has seen The Flash yet, it’s hard to say. It just seems a bit mad that DC would get rid of Cavill and Gadot, but keep Miller who has not been behaving very well recently. The star is seeking professional help, and that’s great. However what really matters is whether fans want to go see Miller take this character forward? Given all the other reboots of characters it simply seems odd to me.
Gunn Debunks Some Of This Report
This trade has recently gotten quite a few details wrong when it comes to the new DCU and co-lead of the studio James Gunn has debunked them on social media a few times lately. So what did Gunn have to say about this report?
Well, Gunn has already debunked one element of this report, again. The fact that Wonder Woman is not in the first three years of the new DCU. Check it out.
I hereby debunk it (only because it’s not true). pic.twitter.com/tlKSaqxsE7

However Gunn was understandably not going to give any clarification on the Ezra situation.
I don’t know what’s out there about Ezra but our slate is 8 to 10 years (but we will only be announcing some of it this month).
