It’s truly amazing how the Harry Potter fandom has continued on long past the conclusion of the Harry Potter franchise. The films may have ended six years ago, but the conversation is just as alive now as it was back then. Of course, that can be credited, in no short part, to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
That being said, author J.K. Rowling has always been very involved in the conversation regarding the Wizarding World on social media. Fans often ask her questions regarding a character or theory, and every so often, she would pop in, throw out a fact and a few other fun tidbits that only she knew about. It’s probably part of what’s kept the conversation alive for so long, and fans never grow tired of all the endless speculation. Given the importance of the Patronus spell in Harry Potter, it was inevitable that a fan would ask about Newt Scamander’s Patronus.
For who have no idea what the hell we’re talking about, a Patronus is a defensive charm used to fight off the soul-sucking Dementors. A Patronus is especially special because it takes the shape of an animal — and the animal portrayed always says something about the character. For example, Snape’s Patronus was a doe, which he modeled it after Lily Potter’s own Patronus, who he was in love with.
So what about Newt Scamander’s Patronus? A fan took to Twitter to ask Rowling this very question, and according to Rowling’s response, Newt’s Patronus would be a big spoiler.
Big spoiler. https://t.co/kmwXNaOEtT

How can Newt’s Patronus be a spoiler, you ask? Honestly, we have no idea. While I did enjoy Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them, I have to admit it was a bit of a letdown in terms of actual character development. We learned little to nothing about Newt, and I’m fairly certain the movie didn’t even have a real arc for him, which left me feeling a bit hollow inside.
As such, since we know so little about Newt, it’d be unreasonable for us to start throwing out random guesses. But what do you think? What can Newt’s Patronus possibly be that would be a big spoiler? Does it have something to do with Leta Lestrange? Maybe. Maybe.
We’ll have to wait to find out.
Fantastic Beasts 2 hits theaters on November 16, 2018.
