The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman says Doctor Doom is not in his film, however, the rumors say otherwise. A bit of news mixed with Barside Buzz today folks. First, let’s take a look at what director Matt Shakman told Empire Magazine when asked about Doctor Doom.

“Doom is not a part of my film, and therefore not a part of my purview.”

I genuinely do believe Shakman here, because he means the actual movie he shot. Far as we know, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom really isn’t in the main film. However, the story we are hearing from leaked test screenings and the scoopers is another story.

There’s a description going around describing one of the post-credit scenes from the film. This (probably mid-credit) scene was reportedly on test screeners. Well, that description says Sue goes into Franklin’s room to check on him and sitting in a chair in the nursery is Doom. From the leaks, they says his face is never shown, (ergo might not actually be RDJ on set), but we see his mask, in his hand.

It’s possible that this scene wasn’t even shot by Shakman, but the Russos. A similar situation happened with the post-credit scene for Thunderbolts*. Since everyone is on set for Doomsday filming, it would not have taken them long to shoot one little scene.

So that’s it folks! Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman says Doctor Doom is not in his movie. He might be right from a certain point of view, but the rumors say otherwise. Let us know what you think of this situation below, as always.
