FAST 8 is getting ready to race into production, as the Universal franchise prepares to launch a final trilogy of films based on the adventures of Dominic Torreto and his band of merry misfits. But just who will they be facing off against this time around, in a film that will take place in locations like New York and Iceland?

According to a report from Deadline, the film’s director and screenwriter are looking to land Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron. The actress is currently riding a very positive wave of buzz thanks to her bad ass turn in George Miller’s MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, and she’d be a very high-profile “get” for the production.

Something that could aide in landing her is that director F. Gary Gray already has a rapport with the actress, thanks to their work together on his THE ITALIAN JOB. As of now, she’s who they’re hoping for but not necessarily who they’re going to get. Deadline reports that the actress has yet to see the script, and therefore any talk of her involvement is still very early in the process.

The report also claims that the character will be fierce and an overall juicy role for which ever actress they do manage to get.

FAST 8 is set to bring Vin Diesel and the rest of his ensemble players, like Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, as well as Jason Statham back for more adrenaline-fueled action.
