When it comes to horror classics like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Child’s Play and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre it seems like there will always been a reboot, a sequel or even a TV/stream series in the works. The last franchise on that list, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is no exception as it seems like another film is in the works from Legendary Entertainment/Legendary Pictures. Most recently we had seen a prequel to the series back in 2017 titled Leatherface, which gave us a look into the early years of the series main character, Leatherface by Millenium Films. It was directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.

In that same time this film was being released, it had been reported that the rights to the franchise had been turned back to the writer and producer on the 1974 slasher classic, Kim Henkel. He he was also the director of the 1994 Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. Now Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Fede Alvarez is being brought in to produce the film for Henkel and Legendary. Currently they are still looking for a filmmaker to helm the project.

Although their plans for the films are not finalized yet, the rumors are that they are looking to make a sequel to Tobe Hooper’s classic film like the way that Blumhouse and Universal recently did with Halloween. One of the challenges that they would have with that is that the film’s final gal, Marilyn Burns passed away back in 2014. But the hope is that hey could maybe focus on the Sawyer family. Once they decide on what to do, it would be interesting if they come out and try and tell us what is and what is not cannon in the line of Leatherface films that have came out in the past.
