First Birds of Prey Movie Poster Has Harley Quinn Seeing Little Birdies

It’s very interesting to think where we are right now with DC films from Warner Bros. Pictures. Right now our focus is on not any member of the Justice League, but two of Batman’s long time villains, the Joker and Harley Quinn. Todd Phillips will be bringing a new take on the Clown Prince of Crime in his one shot film Joker next month. While Margot Robbie will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn after she made her debut in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Next year she will star in Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, followed by her role in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad. Today Warner Bros. Pictures released their firs poster for the Birds of Prey film, you can check it out below!

This poster is beautiful and it captures Harley Quinn very well. It has a bright rainbow background with a dazed and confused Harley who seems to be seeing birds fly around her head like when classic cartoon characters would get hit in head and see little birds fly around their head. But these are no ordinary birds, but in fact the Birds of Prey and some of their adversaries. They are made up of Huntress played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Black Canary played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Renee Montoya played by Rosie Perez, Black Mask played by Ewan MacGregor, Victor Zsasz played by Chris Messina and Cassandra Cain played by Ella Jay Basco. Maybe dealing with her new friends, having to protect Cassandra Cain, dealing with Black Mask and Victor Zsasz and with her break-up with the Joker may be too much for Harley Quinn to deal with at the same time. Leaving her in this state of confusion. But it’s like her neck says “mind over mayham”.

We know that the Birds of Prey have to come together to protect Cassandra Cain after she takes possession of a diamond that belongs to the criminal kingpin known as Black Mask. Other than that not much else is known about the plot. What little footage and images we have seen so far have not given much away. Yan directed the film from a script that was written by Christina Hodson who also wrote Paramount’s Bumblebee.

This poster for the film reminds me a lot of what we would see on a Harley Quinn comic book cover. The one thing that I will say that worries me a little is the direction that they are taking MacGregor’s Black Mask as it seems like it’s going to be a version of the character very different than anything that we have ever seen before.
