First Hellboy Banner Teases The Rise Of The Blood Queen

For better or worse, Hellboy has been pried away from now Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, and thrust into the capable hands of TV director Neil Marshall, who has worked on such shows as Game of Thrones, Black Sails, Hannibal, Westworld, and Lost in Space. He also helmed the amazing horror film The Descent. Taking on the role of Hellboy himself is Stranger Things star David Harbour, who has been on the rise in recent years after spending God knows how long as a reliably strong character actor.

Of course, given that they’re getting a new director on board, it’s obvious that they’d be taking a completely different approach than del Toro. No longer will they be going the lighter, PG-13 route. This one will be an R-rated film, and will be much closer in style and tone to the source material.

The film may not be out until next year, but it looks like a banner has already made its way to the mean streets of Los Angeles. Check it out below.

The image was shared by actress Milla Jovovich, who will be taking on the role of Nimue, the Blood Queen, a sorceress who is on a mission to destroy mankind. Sounds legit, and I do like the look of the banner.

What do you think of that first banner for the film? Are you disappointed or excited by the fact that it doesn’t feature Hellboy in the flesh? Let us know your thoughts down below!
