After the great success of the first season of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys was, we are now gearing up for a second season. With a second season comes new additions to the cast. Today via Entertainment Weekly we got our first look at the character Stormfront, who is played by star of You’re the Worst, Aya Cash. AYA CASH AS STORMFRONT FIRST LOOK IMAGES

This is a different version of Stormfront as the comic book version is male. The character can be described as a mix of Thor and Shazam with a dash of Nazism in the mix. Stormfront has plasma bolt abilities and enough strength to keep Homelander the sociopath leader of The Seven, played by Antony Starr, in check. “She’s the grenade that gets thrown into Homelander’s world and the world of the Seven,” says Starr. Cash also commented on that relationship with Homelander, “[He’s] used to everyone being scared of him. She matches him.”

How the change in the character’s gender plays out is yet to be seen. But Cash does mention that the character comes with her own plans. “I think Stormfront is like a nuclear bomb that goes off in the Seven,” says Cash. “She’s here to try to get Vought back to the original idea behind creating superheroes… And she can be quite the feminist. There’s a lot of, I wouldn’t say misdirect, but she also is a very empowered woman.”

Something else that Cash talked about her character is that there are going to be many times where audiences will identify with her and agree with her, “you start off this season thinking she’s one thing and then discover she’s another,” says Cash. “There are quite a few times where you’ll identify with her as an audience member or agree with what she says. I think [those] are the most dangerous people.”

Cash joins the cast that includes Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty and Chance Crawford. The showrunner for The Boys is Eric Kripke. They are still currently filming the second season and for now we also don’t have a release date for it. But we will soon get more information as the cast is going to get together in Los Angeles for a panel at PaleyFest on March 15th.
