Though this was rumored, today we share the first look at Cirdan in Rings of Power Season 2 played by Ben Daniels. We knew from rumors that Cirdan the Shipwright, (possibly the only Elf left in Middle-earth as old as Galadriel) was in Season 2. It was not much of a spoiler for any Tolkien book fans though. Cirdan and the Grey Havens had to come into this story around this point.
Cirdan has been around around roughly as long as Galadriel with no clear idea which one is older, (Galadriel makes more sense). Cirdan has never been to Valinor like Galadriel and he never saw the light of the Trees. However, like Galadriel he (for a time) becomes the keeper of one of the Three, Narya. He later gives up Narya to Gandalf upon his arrival in ME in the Third Age.

This is all coming ahead of Rings of Power having a big presence at this years SDCC. I am expecting footage, actors and more trailers ahead of that August release.

I really like Daniels as Cirdan, and most importantly, they gave him a beard. Cirdan seems for the most part to be the only Elf to have a beard in all of Tolkien’s mythology. I like he is the only one that gets facial hair among the Elven race.
